Film & Videography

Film and video can be a powerful tool to get your message across, and need not be expensive or time-consuming to produce. Powerful documentaries and corporate videos can be built from interviews, footage of key activities and archive, and events can be recorded professionally given adequate lighting and audio feeds. Get in touch in advance of your deadline and we can produce something that will exceed your expectations.

Example of a documentary film

Papworth: A Moving Story is a Heritage Lottery funded film about the 100-year history of the pioneering heart and lung hospital from tuberculosis colony to state-of-the-art cardiothoracic research and treatment facility, all the while retaining its core humanitarian principles. I wrote and directed this film, which was a real experience, I will never forget filming open heart surgery for one thing! This is the film trailer.

Example of a promotional film

The Gates Cambridge scholarships needed a new film to give a short overview of the programme, outline its aims and ethos, and give a flavour of the character and work of some of their current scholars. I developed this in close collaboration with the participants to hopefully paint a succinct but accurate picture.

Example of a documentary film

Hora Chilena (Chilean Time) is a Heritage Lottery-funded film about the Chilean refugees who came to Cambridge in the 1970s and 80s; their struggles to adapt, the welcome they received and its stark contrast with current attitudes to immigration.

Example of a documentary film

Commission for Cambridge Shorts on academic research into desistance from crime. 'Jogging with Jody' tells the story of an ex-offender and his mentor struggling to help him go straight.

Example of a documentary film

The Model Conversation is a film about attitudes to physical disability, looking at peoples' life experiences and the changes (or lack of change) over the past 30 years. It was a commission for Cambridgeshire Alliance for Independent Living, through the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Example of a documentary film

This is the accompanying film to 'Jogging with Jody', where we asked leading criminologists, the people that set up the mentoring scheme and the ex-offender's employer to comment on the issues raised by the story.

Example of an awareness and support campaign film

This is one of a series of films made for the Positive Faith project, a video resource to provide support to Christians living with HIV. Producing the videos was an extraordinary experience and extremely life-affirming to meet and work with all those who took part.

Example of a research video

Commission for Gates Cambridge on a Bolivian archaeologist who is building a picture of the ancient civilizations that practised agriculture in areas now covered by the Amazon rainforest.

Example of a promotional charity film

This film was made as an introduction to the work of the ClementJames Centre, a charity that works with people to realise their potential in one of the most unequal and disadvantaged areas in London.

Example of a corporate video

Commission for the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership to produce a promotional film on their Master of Studies in Sustainability Leadership course.

Example of event coverage

Highlights of an interview with Sir David Attenborough for the 110th anniversary of the international conservation organisation Fauna & Flora International. You can see the full interview, conducted by Radio 4's Libby Purves, here.

Example of a campaign film

Gorilla conservation fundraiser made for the UK premiere of Peter Jackson's version of 'King Kong'. The event raised significant funds for the conservation of wild gorillas, carried out by the International Gorilla Conservation Programme.
